ClickPoint

ClickPoint is the next generation to the Galileo booking system. It is a point and click version of Galileo Desktop. It combines the ease of Viewpoint with the speed of Focalpoint.
Users require fewer entries, so searching for availability of flights, selling seats, searching for availability, and booking cars and hotels is easier and quicker, allowing  staff’s time to be used more productively.
. There are more results displayed for each search, reducing the need for follow up entries,
. Outbound & Inbound Flights can be viewed at same time so agents do not have search these separately,
. ClickPoint keeps a replay list of recent entries so users can go back and view recently searched information without having to repeat the entry,
. Agents can provide customers with additional information such as pictures and maps – available through RoomMaster.
All install and software updates and upgrades available via the internet.

Antrak Air content made available to Galileo agents through their desktop
On May 14, 2007 Galileo, a leading Global Distribution System (GDS), and subsidiary of Travelport, announced a new agreement with Antrak Air providing Galileo connected travel agents access to Antrak Air’s flights and fares.  Antrak Air operates domestic services within Ghana and international routes to main destinations in Europe.
 

“With the addition of Antrak Air to the Galileo system Galileo has provided her agents once again with unique content, which will support them in making their business more efficient and offer their travelers more choice”, says Fazal Muhammed, Director Airline Services, MEA, Pakistan & Sri Lanka, Galileo by Travelport.

The Executive Chairman, Alhaji Asoma Banda issued a statement “Joining Galileo brings Antrak Air product within Global reach, which makes distribution of content and inventory easily available to Travel Agents and their customers”.

The Managing Director of Galileo Ghana, Kwesi Baidoo commended Antrak Air for the great strides the Airline has achieved and for choosing to distribute its content and inventory through Galileo. He said, “Antrak Air has paved the way and Galileo, the leading GDS will continue to create the exceptional travel experiences the world demands”.

On 1st April 2007, KLM/KQ migrated to a new hosting system and here are facts on the host move :

  • It is important to note that an airline hosting system is an INTERNAL OPERATING SYSTEM that includes central reservations, seat inventory, seat reservations, fares, ticketing and may include departure control
 
 
  • This host change ensures that the airlines will have seamless reservation connectivity and also enhance maximum compatibility across a host of distribution platforms
  • This system is different and MUST NOT BE CONFUSED with Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Galileo, Apollo, Sabre, Amadeus, Worldspan
  • Global Distribution Systems distribute all supplier inventory including that of  airlines, hotels, car rental, rail, etc
  • All interlink functionality between the internal system and the current distribution systems will NOT BE AFFECTED and will remain as it is today, as the existing functionality will still be available on the new hosting system
  • The host move will not in any way have any negative effect on your business operations. It will be compatible with all Global Distribution Systems and all inventories will be equally available on all GDS
  • There will not be any unfair advantages to any GDS as a result of the change of the hosting system

 
  >> Airways Signs Agreement With Galileo, UK's Largest GDS  
 
British Airways on Monday March 12, 2007 announced a new long-term, global full content agreement with Galileo, the UK's largest global distribution system (GDS) and subsidiary of Travelport.  The new three-year contract, which will begin on 10 April 2007, will see British Airways' fares and inventory made available to all Galileo-connected travel agents who sign up to the GDS's opt-in program.
Tiffany Hall, British Airways head of marketing and distribution, said: "We have been working with the GDSs for some time

as our previous contracts expired at the end of February.  We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Galileo, which will reduce the airline's distribution costs and ensures that our lowest fares can continue to be distributed to all Galileo travel agents. Our discussions with Sabre Travel Network, Worldspan and Amadeus are continuing."

The agreement represents a continuation of Galileo's successful travel agency opt-in program, which was first launched in 2004.  The new opt-in program offers travel agents in the UK and Ireland the opportunity to access all of British Airways' fare content that is made publicly available through the airline's sales channels, including ba.com.   More details of the program will be made available from Galileo in due course.  
"We are pleased to be the first GDS to achieve a new, guaranteed full content agreement with British Airways", said Matthew Hall, Galileo's vice president, supplier services, EMEA.  "This agreement further illustrates our ability to work with airlines to reach a situation that is mutually beneficial for both parties and offers great value to travel agents."

Commenting on this, Kwesi Baidoo, Managing Director of Galileo Ghana said he sees this as an opportunity for Galileo Subscribers to serve their clients better and be ahead of the competition. He urged the travel industry in Ghana to remain committed to Galileo as the content gets richer with the dynamic trends.
